How to Choose the Perfect Frame for Your Digital Art Downloads

Buying digital art is one of the fastest, most affordable ways to beautiful your home. However, downloading the files can sometimes leave you looking at a list of numbers like "2:3 Ratio" or "4:5 Ratio" and wondering: Which file do I actually need for my frame?

If you have ever felt confused by aspect ratios, you are not alone. This quick, hassle-free guide will show you exactly how to match your digital art downloads to standard, store-bought frames.

What on Earth is an Aspect Ratio?

An aspect ratio is simply the shape of the picture. It tells you the relationship between the width and the height.

Because art comes in different shapes (some are long and skinny, others are more square), we provide your digital downloads in 5 master ratio files. Each master file can scale down perfectly to fit multiple different frame sizes without stretching or cutting off the artwork.

The Cheat Sheet: Match Your Frame to Your File

Check the back of your frame (or the retail listing) for its dimensions, then look at the list below to see which downloaded file you should use.

1. Use the "2:3 Ratio" File if your frame is:

This is the classic, elongated rectangle shape. It is perfect for large statement pieces.

  • Centimeters': 10x15 | 20x30 | 30x45 | 40x60 | 50x75 | 60x90

2. Use the "3:4 Ratio" File if your frame is:

A popular, slightly wider rectangle that looks wonderful in gallery walls.

3. Use the "4:5 Ratio" File if your frame is:

  • Inches: 4x5 | 8x10 | 12x15 | 16x20 | 24x30

  • Centimeters: 10x12 | 20x25 | 30x38 | 40x50

4. Use the "ISO / International" File if your frame is:

Use this file if you are buying standard international frames (very common in the UK, Europe, Australia, and Asia).

  • Sizes: A5 | A4 | A3 | A2 | A1

  • Bonus: This file also perfectly fits a standard 5" x 7" frame.

5. Use the "11:14" File if your frame is:
